The European Institute of the Mediterranean organises the first face-to-face meeting of the MAGIC project on 21 and 22 November to be held at its headquarters in Barcelona.
The objective of the Ideas and Coalition Building Hub is two-fold:
Present and fine-tune the selected local and online awareness campaigns in a dynamic and interactive way.
A MAGIC – A Coalition of Muslim women and communities Against Gender Islamophobia in Society will be officially formed.
The meeting includes a seminar about the main aspects to be taken into account in the creation of awareness raising campaign, discussions to fine-tune the local and online awareness campaigns selected by MAGIC, the presentation of the MAGIC Declaration, and a discussion on how to disseminate the recommendations and conclusions of the project.

Debate “Media, Democracy, Diversity”
Back-to-back this MAGIC meeting, the IEMed hosts the public debate “Media, democracy and diversity” on Monday 21st November at 7 pm (CET). Rizwana Hamid, director of the Centre for Muslim Council of Britain’s Centre for Media Monitoring, Xavier Giró, professor of journalism at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and Alaaddine Azzouzi, a reporter at VilaWeb, are among the speakers of the debate.
The event will count with the opening remarks of Senén Florensa, Executive President of the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), Núria Serra, Head of the Department of Interculturality and Religious Pluralism, Barcelona City Council, and Manuela Fernández Ruiz, Director of the Office for Equal Treatment and Non-discrimination of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
