The association Stop the Islamophobic Phenomena in Catalonia (Stop als Fenòmens Islamòfobs a Catalunya, SAFI) is a multidisciplinary, plural and independent group, that presented on June 15th in Barcelona its 2021 report on Islamophobia in Catalonia.
Oumaya Amghar, a member of the IEMed’s team working on the MAGIC project, attended the event.
Some of the conclusions of the report are:
- As a society, we continue to replicate too often the idea that the Muslim religion and its believers and practitioners are a foreign religion, associated with the migratory fact and, therefore, alien to our traditions.
- The key role of public administrations in the fight against Islamophobia.
- As for the victims of attacks, the report emphasizes the importance of their denouncements.
