Representatives of the MAGIC consortium Oumaya Amghar and Lurdes Vidal have taken part in the First International Conference on Freedom of Religion and Belief. The event is convened by the Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture and the General Directorate for Religious Affairs of the Department of Justice of the Government of Catalonia.
The conference aims to share good practices regarding the management of religious diversity and the promotion of religious freedom, and analyse the international standards that assess the exercise of the right to religious freedom and the prevention of violations to the right.
In their presentations, Vidal and Amghar have tackled the topics of gendered islamophobia and muslim women in the media and presented some of the conclusions of the journalist narratives’ monitoring carried out by the MAGIC project in Spain and Belgium.
