“There is still a long way to go in terms of gender and Muslim women’s rights everywhere in the world. It is therefore essential to implement political and legal measures and, above all, to raise public awareness to avoid falling into misunderstanding and misinformation, not only on issues affecting Muslim women or Islam but on any issue affecting human rights”.
That’s how Oumaya Amghar Ait Moussa, concludes her contribution to the latest issue of Quaderns de la Mediterrània journal. She’s a project assistant at the European Institute of the Mediterranean where she’s involved in the EU-funded project MAGIC aim at preventing gendered-islamophobia in societies and in particular in Media outlets.
